REJUVENATION!

Mud Luscious Arts for Spring

Bright and early on April 11, 2001, VAAE’s newest professional development offering welcomed arts educators to Lake Morey Inn Resort for a spring Arts Education Conference.

Approximately sixty educators and arts leaders convened to take workshops ranging from Indonesian arts, Three Dimensional Painting, and Basic Drawing to Photography and Technology.

After a morning of workshops, educators were treated to a buffet luncheon followed by welcoming remarks by VAAE Executive Director, Anne Taylor and host Rivendell Interstate School District Superintendent, Noelle Vitt. Student from Rivendell Academy performed an original play, Love Twist, directed by Ray Chapin, and The North Country Dance Company, taught and directed by Cheri Skurdall, once again showed the wealth of talent in Vermont schools.

Following the afternoon workshops, the Indonesian Gamelan and Puppet workshop participants treated educators to a mini performance. Evaluations collected from 98% of the attendees agreed this new VAAE initiative should be an annual offering for Vermont educators. An Arts Education Conference for April 2002 will be planned.

Special thanks to the tireless efforts of the REJUVENATION! Con-ference Planning Committee, Anna Alden, Gary Barton and Lynne Schulte-LaValley. Thanks for rejuvenating us and our teaching skills!
