VAAE Seeks Nominations for Annual Fall Awards

Nomination Deadline – September 1, 2005

The Vermont Alliance for Arts Education seeks nominations for the 2005 Arts Education Awards to be presented on September 21, 2005 at the Fall VAAE Arts Education Conference, at 12:30 p.m. in The Inn Dining Room, Bread Loaf Campus, Middlebury College.
These awards are an excellent way to recognize exemplary programs and individuals in each of the following
three categories:
  • School Board/Community Award
  • School Administrator Award
  • Arts Educator Award

Nominations are due to the VAAE Office by THURSDAY, September 1, 2005.
Mail nomination form, letters of support and other support material to the
VAAE Awards Committee, P.O. Box 327, Fairlee, Vermont 05045.
VAAE Board members and past recipients are not eligible.

2005 SCHOOL BOARD OR COMMUNITY AWARD
(business, organization or person)
This award recognizes an outstanding school board or community business, organization or person who has demonstrated
support for and commitment to quality curriculumbased arts education programs.

Nomination Directions:
Write a letter describing how this School Board or community business or person:
  • Contributes significantly to the development and implementation of visual arts, dance, music and theater/drama in their local school(s).
  • Actively encourages partnerships between the school, community and other artists.

Please include at least two letters of support and any other materials you think will support your nomination.

2005 SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR AWARD

This award is designed to recognize school administrators (superintendents and school principals) who demonstrate support for and commitment to quality curriculum-based arts education programs.

Nomination Directions:
Write a letter describing how, under this administrator’s leadership, the school or district:
  • Encourages exemplary programs in all of the arts (visual arts, dance, music, and theater/drama).
  • Develops and maintains superior curricula and extra-curricular activities in the arts.
  • Advocates for the arts in the schools.

Please include at least two letters of support and any other materials you think will support your nomination.

2005 ARTS EDUCATOR AWARD
This award is made to an outstanding arts (visual arts, dance/movement, music and/or theater/drama) teacher who demonstrates a commitment to quality curriculum-based arts education programs.

Nomination Directions:
Write a letter describing how the teacher:
  • Develops exemplary arts programs in the school or district.
  • Exemplifies excellence in teaching style and artistic background.
  • Provides opportunities for students’ self-expression.
  • Involves students, parents and colleagues.

Please include at least two letters of support and any other materials you think will support your nomination.
